Frequently Asked Questions
But are you a … like a real…cult?..
No, but we have fun coming up with answers to that question! We are definitely not a cult. But we do find cults interesting to learn about in documentaries. And we find them hilarious, sometimes.
We are only cult-level serious about laughing. We all need to laugh. It helps so much, right?! And art. Laughing and painting and trying to uplift; that is what we are about.
Who is “we”? How do we stop imagining a cult sitting around painting together?
Well, we are simply four female family members who love to make art for people as we move through life. But we think a cult based on color sounds so much cooler. 😁 And it makes us laugh! At two separate events locally, we saw other people chuckling about our business name, and that was enough of a review for us, mission accomplished.
How do you price your art?
This can be very difficult because art by hand is time consuming and the heart gets poured into each project. But keeping this in mind, we are human and we struggle with the cost of living just like everyone else, so we build in frequent discounts and give huge rewards to return customers. In this way we feel able to price our art the way it should be priced, knowing that if customers pay attention, they can often pay FAR less with a discount.
How should I care for my glass bottle?
Our bottles are all meticulously hand-painted and definitely should never be soaked, washed with harsh detergents, or used in the dishwasher. Excess heat or moisture on the outside of the bottle will cause the paint to deteriorate or even peel. We suggest handwashing the inside with a bottle brush if you have stored a powder or liquid inside and only wiping the outside with a damp cloth.
Do your bottles come with lids?
The only bottles that have lids are the boston rounds, which is the classification name of the bottle, an historic classification name for the bottles’ type & shape. These are our bigger Bud Bottles (4-ounces each). They come with a nice twist-on lid which is black. Of that size bottle, the only ones that do not have a lid are ones that have been painted to the extent that a lid won’t fit correctly, and those are meant for decor only. This is not because of the lack of a lid, but due to the paint that could have extended down inside the bottle, rendering it unsafe for storing anything edible, such as oils, spices, etc. These bottles will be labeled as such.
We consider all of the bottles that ship with a lid to be food safe. We know that no paint has been inside of these bottles that come with a lid, and we would store our own spice mixtures in these bottles, for sure.
If I want to display some Bud Bottles, art, or jewelry in my shop, who do I talk to?
You can drop us a line anytime at team@colorcult.live. We’d be happy to ship for free to Seattle area shops.
